The site for the Australian Memorial Park that includes Fromelles Military Cemetery (Pheasant Wood) was donated by the land owner, Mme Anne-Marie Descamps-Camé who believed that the land belongs to the Australians who are buried there. The village school is named ‘Ecole Des Cobbers’ and the weather vane on the roof is a kangaroo with a joey in the pouch.
