  1. Christine, this is a great example of why looking at different records is so important. Many of us would have just given up when the record was not found in the most common places.

  2. Excellent blog Christine – a good reminder for me because I use these indexes and databases regularly; in fact just in the last few days I’ve been unable to find a few people. Now that I’m armed with this, I’ll go an have a look again. Looking forward to catching up again soon 🙂

  3. A classic case of “if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again” as Mum used to tell me. Great to see your persistence paid off.

  4. Fortunately for me I knew the name of the ship my grandparents .. on my father’s side .. came on to Australia from Holland in 1912. Dutch names can be very different to English ones at times … and the person who recorded the family migrating to Brisbane put my grandfather’s christian name as his surname !! So anyone who may be researching my father in years to come will never find him, because he came iin to Australia with his surname being his father’s christian name !!!!!
